Vitamin D deficiency blamed for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome 29.01.2012

Two senior paediatric pathologists, Dr Irene Scheimberg and Dr Marta Cohen, warn that Vitamin D deficiency has lead to a significant number of children dying of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

BabyDuring the interview for the BBC Radio 4 programme Today, Dr Scheimberg expressed her concern that a number of children with vitamin D deficiency may have been taken away from their parents and placed in foster care for no valid reason.

Dr Scheimberg told the programme, "I think there should be a commission that studies all these cases [which would] take into consideration the age of the children, the gender, the race and the way in which the way these families live – particularly when the children are still alive and living in foster care when they could be back with their families."
