Vitamin D - a blessing in short supply 27.01.2012

Vitamin D is a-fat soluble vitamin, essential for healthy bone and teeth growth, and reduction of inflammation.

Sunhine - source of Vitamin DIt is also a hormone which regulates our metabolism. It helps to regulate our bone development, muscle functions, immune system, insulin activity, calcium and phosphorous balance.

Vitamin D is obtained mainly from sun exposure, but it can also be found in some foods, and vitamin supplements.
It is commonly found in salmon, sardines, milk, shitake mushrooms and eggs.


Vitamin D deficiency leads to Rickets, Osteomalacia (a bone-thinning disorder), peripheral vascular disease.
It is also linked to recurrent inflammatory spinal cord disease, and may be a strong factor in the development of some cancers, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile diabetes, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.
